How did Iyanla Vanzant's daughter Gemmia Vanzant die?

In 2002, tragedy struck Iyanla Vanzant's life when her daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of colon cancer, coinciding with the cancellation of her TV show. Over the next 15 months, Iyanla bravely embarked on a journey to help Gemmia heal, supporting her daughter and her household despite the financial strain. Given that her daughter never smoked, never drank, and followed a vegetarian lifestyle, they chose to pursue natural methods of treatment. In the face of adversity, she turned to unconventional treatments like oxygen therapy and a macrobiotic diet, determined to help her daughter's recovery. Unfortunately, her daughter died on Christmas of 2003.
